Asteroid Musa #600 is a main belt asteroid and has an orbital period of 4.34 years. It is one of the few asteroids in astrology that has taken on a very different collective meaning than its original intended name. Discovered in 1906, this asteroid took its title from a Turkish mountain, but the collective conscious has distilled upon it a very different association.

Asteroid Musa has come to represent the nine Ancient Greek muses who were known as the personification of creativity. These Demi goddesses inspired and aroused heroes, warriors and artists to impressive feats and creations in the golden age of the Titans. The 9 Muses were by name: Clio, Euterpe, Thalia, Melpomeni, Terpsichore, Erato, Polymnia, Urania and Calliope. The daughters of Zeus and Μnemosyne, the Muses while still babies were given to Nymph Eufime and the God Apollo to raise and culture.

The Muses, interested only in the arts, sciences and creative pursuits, grew in grace and beauty, each honing and mastering their own special talent. As they matured, the Muses naturally gravitated toward others who required support and sustenance in their own artistic or creative pursuits. Residing on scenic Mount Elikonas, they enjoyed a life devoted to encouraging the creation of great works. In short, they were mythologies first motivational speakers.

These divine young women would kindle, infuse and invigorate the artistic and physical talents of those who were privileged to receive their provoking inspiration. Often at the beginning of a quest or project, the Muse specifically associated with the endeavor would be invoked, resulting in success that was surely helped along by the lightness of spirit resulting from the infectious motivation of the Muse.

"When the muse strikes" infers a certain "being in the zone." A passive irrational state of creativity is often the state we find ourselves in when our own chord of creativity is pulled by the inspiration needed to propel our thoughts or actions to a greater height. The stuff needed to fill an artist or adventurer with the fuel it takes to create is the magic of the muse. The precursor to creativity, the muse would fertilize the human soul, making it receptive to influx of inspiration not of the mind, but of the heart. Ultimately, the talent of the Muses was the ability to link heart and mind to inspire the hand to create from the heart.
